Council Approves Amendment To Increase Court Costs
City of Lawrenceburg leaders approved on first reading Thursday, an ordinance that will result in an increase in city court costs.
Members of the Lawrenceburg Board of Mayor and Council met in regular session Thursday morning. During the meeting members gave first approval to Ordinance 1114.
The ordinance amends the Lawrenceburg Municipal Code and existing associated ordinances, establishing a new bill of cost.
City Administrator Chris Shaffer explained that the increases will bring city court costs up to date, making them comparable to those charged in Lawrence County courts.
The new cost schedule is as follows:
Tax $ 1.50
Affidavit & Warrant $5.00
Arrest $15.50
Issuing Subpoena $1.50
Serving Subpoena $2.50
Appearance bond $2.50
Mittimus $1.00
Bill of Costs $4.50
Continuance $1.00
Judgment $3.75
Re-arrest Order $1.00
Re-arrest $10.00
Fine (in addition to costs up to $50.00)
Moving Violations - speeding under 9 mph $5.00
Moving Violations - speeding 10 mph and all other violations $20
Court Cost and Litigation Tax $41.75
Administrative Charge $9.00
Computer Charge $39.50
The ordinance must gain approval on second reading before becoming effective. The panel is expected to hold second and final reading during the next regularly scheduled meeting, to be held on Thursday, June 27, 2013
